Jinju (Kwangju: 진주시 Jinju-si) – officially the Jinju Special City (진주 특별시) – is the capital and largest metropolis of Kwangju, forming the heart of the Jinju Capital Area, which includes the surrounding Sejong metropolis and Paegunson province, the world's 10th largest city and largest metropolitan area by population. It is home to over half of all Kwangju citizens along with over one million international residents.
